Alisha Wedderburn is the driving force behind her personal brand known for exceptional customer service delivery. Her background, experience and passion are what initially birthed the idea of a company that specializes in this unique niche of hospitality management. After graduation, and working at some of the best establishments across the globe, learning two new languages while living and working abroad, Alisha decided to create the brand she is known for today. In an industry that is constantly changing, and due to the continued growth of customer oriented businesses, Alisha recognized a large void, where companies expected the highest possible service from their employees, but did not have the expertise to develop a plan, train and implement it into the perfect customer experience.
Elliott Atkins is President of AddMirror Canada Limited, the out-of-home advertising company that he founded in 2008. Over the past seven years Elliott has grown AddMirror across Canada with locations in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver. Known as the Small Business “Chief Marketing Officer”, Javed S. Khan brings 20 years of corporate experience and 8+ years of successful small business ownership. Reg Charney is a serial entrepreneur with a background in running and assisting small companies in marketing and software development. One of his notable accomplishments was co-founding EntreBahn to assist small and mid-sized businesses achieve more effective impactful messages to their target audiences by helping to create, review and revise business plans and branding activities. Some of his technical accomplishments include developing the Main Line Standards (MLS) for program design (that became a Canadian Standards Association Standard Z243.21), and designing and writing DBTRAN, the first automatic translation system to convert Datapoint's DataBus language to COBOL.
In 2004, Ryan Porter pressed pause on his studies and moved to Japan to answer the question, "what do I want to be when I grow up?" There, he realized that this was the wrong question to be asking. He travelled to different countries around the world asking new questions and uncovering new answers. He returned to North America to speak to teens about his findings, the importance of decision-making, and the importance of having experiences. Ryan wrote “Make Your Own Lunch" and co-founded www.raiseyourflag.com, a web platform that helps the 45% of high-school students in N.A. who do not attend college immediately after leaving school connect to careers that are available to them and the companies that will hire them.
Entrepreneur, founder of PixelThought Media, and creative junkie, Saul Alvarez is known as the “ideas guy” and “deep thinker.” Saul gets his kicks from collaborating with clients and creating neat stuff to make their businesses better. Joshua Clements is the co-founder of Qwertynomics and founder of Sci-Tek, a company that inspires school-aged students learn about STEM and Lego Robotics. He has held many roles from Support Teacher, Speaker, Software development designer and Network Manager. Joshua is a prolific volunteer for his community, through Qwertynomics, Scouting, Medivents and other local events. He is a strong beacon and leader to others inspiring them to achieve their best. Ritesh Khanna is the founder and CEO of Clipwire Games, a Markham-based social and mobile game developer. Since Clipwire's creation in 2007, Ritesh has lead the company to create and distribute several games on many platforms, including Facebook, Kongregate, iOS and Android; and in many languages for global distribution. Carson Cheung is an analytical and results-oriented leader with over 12 years of experience creating strategies, revitalizing under-performing portfolios, and leading cross-functional teams in the telecommunications sector. In his current capacity as the Director of Loyalty & Retention at Bell, he is responsible for managing and improving the customer experience for over 6M residential connections. Chinmay Patel is the CEO and the founder of API Garage. API Garage is a tool for developers to document and test APIs. Chinmay started developing professionally 8 years ago, and has developed web applications, mobile apps, and Google Chrome extensions. He has also contributed to Mozilla's open source projects, which is used by millions of users. He is a thought leader in development environments and developer productivity. Dexter Chew is a Director of Business Development at OMR Globus, which is a market research technology solution startup. His focus is on strategic business and technology growth. Gabriella Chan is a lawyer, scientist, lecturer, and entrepreneur. She holds a law degree with a focus in business and intellectual property from Osgoode Hall Law School and a doctorate in molecular diagnostics from the University of Toronto. She obtained her legal training at a national Bay Street law firm in Toronto and prior to founding Yocto Law, Gabriella served as the Vice President of Legal Affairs and previously as the Intellectual Property and Technology Manager at two Toronto-area nano/biotechnology companies. In addition, Gabriella lectures on intellectual property and commercialization in the Translational Medicine Program at the University of Toronto and runs Startup Toronto, a not-for-profit organization that caters to the needs of entrepreneurs.
Jennifer Green, the founder & CEO of Jade Consulting, started her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 18 and hasn’t looked back. Her current company, Jade Consulting, has now been successfully working with entrepreneurs and businesses offering Finance, Accounting and HR services for 17 years. Jennifer believes that a strong financial foundation is key to success in business and when financial awareness is present at a young age, the possibilities are limitless. Jennifer is happily married and lives in Markham with her husband and two young children.
Laura Yu is Business Development Manager of Academic Entrepreneurship at the Ontario Centres of Excellence. Her key role is to manage the Campus-Linked Accelerators at post-secondary institutions that were created to drive youth engagement in entrepreneurship, support academic-linked start-ups. She is also responsible to develop and manage global linkages in the start-up ecosystem to foster collaborations and sharing of best practices. Her areas of focus are in advanced health technologies, including healthcare IT, medical devices and life sciences, as well as energy and clean tech. Laura holds a PhD in Biomedical/Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Peter Atam has been the Chief Executive Officer of AIC group of companies since 2000. He has been responsible for the strategical and operational leadership, including cultivating the processes, philosophies, and infrastructures to help create truly innovative products and services, while also ensuring solid business performance. Recently, Peter started up a new company called Kambio, which provides mobile oil change and tire change services.
Classically trained in biochemistry, molecular biology and biophysics, Peter Lau has done research for many years on bacteria, worms and mammalian systems using 3D microscopy. As a scientist, he has published a dozen peer-reviewed articles in highly-rated scientific journals over the years and obtained a U.S. patent that has led to technology licensing. As an entrepreneur, Peter is founder of Lumawiz (2010) a dynamic, full-service consulting firm that advises small- and medium-sized business clients on various scientific, technological, enterprise and media issues. In 2014, Peter started Makerwiz, a creative company that promotes the Maker Movement (specifically the use of digital fabrication technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting) in York Region.
Raheela Nanji is the owner of Ree Consulting, which focuses on consulting with clients, providing coaching, and speaking at events such as Y2. With 16 years Marketing experience from the UK, working with some of the biggest brands there, Raheela comes from generations of entrepreneurs, and has had her own businesses in the UK, Dubai and now Canada. In her spare time, Raheela undertakes extensive voluntary work where, during her two years in Canada, she has launched an Internship Program, headed up the Skills and Employment Program for her community, managed the Social Media for the World Partnership Walk, managed the Twitter account for the Friendship Bench and is currently the Social Media Manager for the Aga Khan Development Network.
Wayne Li is a scientist, management consultant and entrepreneur. He is the founder of NextUp Care, a medtech company committed to reducing outpatient wait times for diagnostic imaging services, such as MRI / CT scans. NextUp optimizes scheduling by connecting hospitals, doctors and patients on a common platform. Previously, Wayne was the country head for Polaris Consulting & Services in Australia and New Zealand and a management consultant and account executive at Capgemini. He has 15 years’ experience working with global financial services clients in Canada, US, UK, Australia and Asia Pacific in retail banking, corporate banking and wealth management. Wayne holds a BSc and MSc in Neuroscience from the University of Toronto and a MBA in Finance from the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
Zoe Clements is an International Educator, Speaker and Touch Typing/Keyboarding Specialist who is perhaps best known for bringing Touch Typing into the Elementary school curriculum in England. Co-Founder of Qwertynomics, Zoe developed an innovative and fun method of teaching keyboarding skills to produce outstanding and measurable results for children and adults alike. In Canada since 2010, Zoe delivers the Qwertynomics Program through online communities, homes, business, hospitals and schools. As an outspoken and passionate advocate of innovative education and with over 18 years of teaching experience, Zoe trains other teachers to teach her proprietary program and has received Local, National and International media coverage for her knowledge, views and ideas.
Akshay Kalle is the Chief Technical Officer at Pathway Communications, an IT Solutions Provider servicing large enterprises and government agencies worldwide. Akshay is a specialist in distributed systems and artificial intelligence. Since 2007, under Akshay’s leadership, Pathway’s technology group has developed innovative approaches and applications in cloud computing, big data and security. Jeremy Laurin is the President and CEO of ventureLAB, the Regional Innovation Centre for York Region, Simcoe County, and Muskoka County - and member of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE). Jeremy founded his first of three technology firms in Kingston, ON in 1995, and has worked internationally opening offices throughout the European Union, China, Korea, Japan and the United States of America. Sean Stephens has never had a real job. In fact, he is currently between jobs - one as CEO of Treefrog Inc., a world renowned website development agency based in Newmarket, and CEO of LassoSoft Inc., a popular website programming language which runs hundreds of thousands of websites worldwide. And in between those jobs, he's been recognized as the 2015 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce.
Travis Clements-Khan is the CEO of @NextGen_Labs and Co-Founder and CEO of @Allerzen, Travis Clements-Khan is a graduate of Seneca College and a proud member of Seneca's on-campus incubator HELIX. In January 2015, Travis and his team won Startup Weekend York Region based on his idea – Aller(tec), a molecular diagnostic that can be used to detect the presence of allergens in food products. In March 2015, Travis founded NextGen Labs and continues to work on his idea Aller(tec) at Seneca College’s York campus (Seneca@York).
Originally from Western Canada, Claire Hainstock has enjoyed a diverse and extensive journey of professional growth. He has lived and worked in the El Salvador, Mexico, Chile, and the US. Beginning with a series of international youth exchanges between Ottawa and Central America, he has combined a series unique international banking careers involving trade finance, investment banking, and accounting positions for such names as Bank of Nova Scotia, Bank of Montreal, CIBC, Lloyds Bank, Norwest Bank and National Bank of Canada. He was Comptroller of the Chilean subsidiary of Microsoft prior to returning to Tucson, Arizona. There he was a Director of a new start-up venture that was attempting create an online trading system for non-ferrous metals. The start-up raised $1.5 million in angel funding. Most recently, Claire has been involved in public school education. He currently is Head of Business Studies in York Region District School Board. He is also a Canadian adjunct professor of Niagara University where he teaches Business Methods to new teacher candidates. A life-long learner, he holds 3 degrees, with the most noteworthy being a Masters of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Arizona). Married to a teacher who specializes in early learner resource, they have 2 daughters currently working on their Masters at Queens and the University of Victoria in the area of Global Food Security and the Qualitative Aspects of Third Party Care Givers in the BC health care system. His most current passion is to try and implement new learning styles which focus on entrepreneurial and innovative thinking.
Cici Scovell is currently the Corporate Strategy Manager at Shoppers Drug Mart, who has supported senior leadership on special projects to drive the velocity of enterprise transformation. Prior to joining the corporate strategy team, she has worked in the Business Analytics and Financial Services team at Shoppers. The positions Cici has held over the years have given her exposure to a wide variety of industries, such as: retail, CPG, pharmaceuticals, medical device, manufacturing, construction, telecom and banking.
Vince Duquette is an exceptionally talented engineer. Having been the lead developer at Sprouter.com (acquired in 2011) and BetaKit.com (acquired in 2013), Vince went on to start his own boutique development agency, HangarOne Digital, and join the faculty at Ryerson University. Passionate about working with startups, he is an active advisor at Ryerson’s Digital Media Zone and continues to mentor young entrepreneurs. Vince builds all new products at Future Design School.
